Multi-talented Tye Platinum is a prominent performing artist boasting an impressive array of TV & stage events and recordings under his belt in May 2006 Tye founded Cape Town based r&b / soul outfit Blackkurrant, which obtained a SAMA nomination for their debut album, Urban Soul.
He was the lead singer and songwriter until 2010 when he left the band in search of a more native sound and to push his creative boundaries.
Tye has performed at big-stage events alongside the likes of Sipho Hotstix, Jonathan Butler and five-time Grammy award-winning Ladysmith Black Mambazo. He also had the privilege of performing with the late Johnny Clegg at The Nelson Mandela Memorial Cape Town Stadium in 2013.
With a vast interest in the art of music and its many facets, Tye has written songs for artists such as South African House DJ Euphonik, and has composed tv jingles for brands like Snackworx (Willards Cheese Curls).
Having made it to the top 32 on The Voice South Africa, season 3 in 2019, Tye has his sights set on releasing his EP “Vantage” early in 2020 and aspires to headline big stages locally and internationally.
