Courtney Chris Williams, known to her supporters as “Courtney Courus”, was born and bred in the Eastern Cape in the town of Uitenhage where she performed in various singing and dancing competitions as a child.

Born on the 11th day of April 1993, this vibrant girl started singing at a very tender age. Her uncle; MC and Events coordinator Danny Williams, always had her sing at various shows and festivals that he had hosted in order to ‘wow’ audiences. Her musical influences are as a result of exposure due to participating in talent shows, acting in school musicals, dance competitions, singing in church and singing in the girl-group, “Confrontation”.

For her tertiary education, Courus enrolled at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in Port Elizabeth where she took up a course in Music studies. In her years at University, she became exposed to many ensembles and started singing and playing in numerous bands too, namely; TwoTone music, BE soul and AdLib Entertainment. In 2013 Courus started her own band that still perform with her today. She feels blessed to have had the opportunity of studying towards her greatest passion. Courtney graduated in 2015 with a Diploma in Music Education.

Courtney Courus performed as a backing vocalist at the “Divas in Spring Concert” in 2016 alongside artists like, PJ Powers, Liesl Graham, Lira and Judith Sepuma and still sees that moment as a highlight in her career; as she strives to be as amazing as all of those artists all together. She also hopes to work with them in the near future in her own album this time. Courtney is eager to learn more about what the music industry has to offer. Her goal for 2017 is to get her music recorded, to get air-play and to be heard. She believes that her sound will be something fresh and is exactly what the music industry needs. “I can’t wait for people to get to know who ‘Courus’ is”.
