David Johnson
ACTOR MUSICIAN WRITER DIRECTOR
David Johnson is an accomplished actor and theatre-maker having worked in the industry for almost two decades. As a performer,dancer, musician and actor, David has worked with some of the most accomplished directors and artists in South Africa.
His contribution to theatre, film and television shows such as ‘7de Laan’ and ‘Getroud met Rugby’ has made him a familiar household name. He has been nominated for a Naledi Award as Best Actor in a Leading Role for the Market Theatre’s production,’Yellowman’ and has performed in musicals such as ‘Blood Brothers’, ‘The Fantastics’ and played the legendary Sammy Davis Jnr in ‘The Rat Pack’.
With initial training in Musical Theatre at the University of Cape Town in 2003, David Johnson has had experience in all aspects of the Performing Arts.
This year David MC’d the ‘Kuier saam met Kyknet’ concert and shared the stage with the likes of Andre Schwartz, Caroline Brouwer and performed duets with LEAH, and his beautiful wife Bianca le Grange.
