Born in the heart of Nyanga East and raised in the vibrant streets of Khayelitsha, Dee Mayekane — known simply as Dee — is a South African singer whose voice carries both power and poetry.
A standout Top 16 finalist on Idols SA Season 16, Dee captivated the nation with her rich, soulful tone and magnetic stage presence. But her journey started long before the spotlight.
Trained at the Cape Town Academy of Music under the guidance of Dr. Kinsey, Dee graduated with distinction in her Grade 8 Rock & Pop Trinity London exam — proof of both her talent and dedication.
She has graced stages at the Youth Jazz Festival and shared performances with icons like Jimmy Dludlu and Ringo Madlingozi, carving out her place among South Africa’s rising musical voices.
Dee isn’t just a singer — she’s a storyteller, shaped by rhythm, soul, and the spirit of Cape Town.
