Biography

Carly Nauta has been playing the violin for 24 years. It all began at the age of 8 years old at Beau-Soleil Music Centre in Cape Town in 1998 with guidance from string teachers Kathy Garrity and Marina Louw.

Carly began branching off from Classical Training to explore improvisation and Irish music when she joined her first Irish Celtic Band at the age of 15 years old in 2005 and has continued to perform since.

In 2010, Carly was signed to Red Cello Productions as a resident Corporate Electric Violinist for brand activations, weddings and high-profile events. In 2012 she returned to Classical Violin studies at the University of Cape Town under the guidance of Cape Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra Concert Masters’ Patrick Goodwin and Farida Bacharova, while continuing to apply herself to circuit and corporate gigs alike, locally and internationally.
